We’ve Been Featured in Modern Home Builders Magazine — Issue 148

The Corbo Group is featured in Modern Home Builders Issue 148 — read how we've spent 50 years building luxury custom homes in Connecticut.

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news: we’ve been featured in the latest printed issue of Modern Home Builders — Issue 148, one of the industry’s leading publications for home building professionals and enthusiasts alike.

A Legacy Built on Family, Craftsmanship, and Vision

For nearly five decades, we’ve been doing what few others can, turning a client’s dream home into reality. Founded in 1977 by our President, Ralph Corbo, and now led alongside his son and Vice President Colin Corbo, who joined the business in 2003, we’ve built our reputation as one of Connecticut’s most trusted names in custom residential construction.

Our feature in Modern Home Builders, titled “Experts in Lakefront Luxury”,  captures exactly what we set out to do every day: combine family values with deep technical expertise to deliver homes that are as personal as they are exceptional.

More Than a Builder — A True Design-and-Build Partner

What sets us apart is our ability to meet clients wherever they are in the process. As Colin explains in the magazine:

“We help clients bridge the gap between finding a lot they like and then making it their own. For instance, if they want to move a bedroom or change aspects of the space, while simultaneously managing their budget, we can help make that happen.”

And if a client hasn’t found the right lot yet? Ralph adds that clients can purchase directly from our own inventory — a testament to the development capability that truly sets us apart from traditional contractors.

Award-Winning Lakefront Expertise

Over the past eight years, we’ve carved out a specialized niche in lakefront property custom home construction, a highly technical discipline requiring close coordination with wetlands communities and local lake authorities. Our custom home work on Lake Zoar in Southbury, Connecticut, six stunning custom homes complete with boat docks and lake access, earned us multiple HOBI Awards from the Connecticut Home Builders Association, adding to our now-impressive collection of approximately 18 total awards from the annual ceremony attended by nearly 1,000 industry professionals.

A Broad and Varied Portfolio

While our aesthetic leans toward a modernistic take on traditional New England colonial architecture, our portfolio spans far wider than any single style. Current and recent projects include:

  • The Nicolina project in Newtown, Connecticut — two landmark 6,000-square-foot custom homes
  • The renovation of a 258-year-old historic home on Main Street in Woodbury, Connecticut — the antiques capital of the state
  • Ongoing acquisition of additional lots in strong local markets, fueling both spec and custom opportunities

This versatility reflects our core strength: the ability to adapt, innovate, and deliver — no matter the project scope or complexity.
